Latina/x represents LESS THAN 1% for Architecture Registration Exam (ARE) completion to Licensure.

HOW CAN WE IMPROVE?

During Latina/x Heritage Month, we thought it was a good opportunity to learn more about the culture and heritage. With rising concerns of inclusivity, it is crucial to understand the demographics in the architecture field today.

We were saddened and reminded by some of the numbers that reflect the lack of Latina/x becoming licensed architects. NCARB requires that we complete 3,740 hours in various categories and pass the ARE to practice architecture in the US. How can we achieve higher numbers of Latina/x in architecture? How can the system provide opportunities for them to gain experiences and afford exams and study materials?

It is time for a change! This series, Cultura, aims to highlight Latina women, while also shedding light on facts that everyone must be aware of.
