Marvel Delva

Personal Project

MOD.2

A modular furniture project.

In this project, Marvel D. Delva (aka MARV) designed a modular table, chairs, + storage. The MOD. 2 was his first furniture project. This personal project was designed for a creative firm, Made in Brownsville, in Brooklyn, NY. The challenge was to utilize one sheet of 4’ x 8‘birchwood to create furniture. Throughout his process, he focused on minimalism. He wanted to maintain an industrial appearance to relate with NYC’s urban culture. The MOD. 2 was designed to be multifunctional for work and leisure purposes. Using his architectural knowledge, he produced a furniture piece that he believed would be best for any tiny space or home. Furthermore, MARV is a motivated young designer aiming to produce more furniture (and other products) for homes, offices, and civic spaces. He intends to create more universal designs for his community – designing for all people: the disabled, the youth, and the poor. Without a doubt, he enjoys using his interests and cultural background as a catalyst for many of his projects and expects to create more.
