Sami sees landscape architecture as a nexus of natural and social systems, with the ability to support community development through healthy, equitable, and beautiful landscapes, honoring history, context, and ecology. After obtaining her MLA from the University of Michigan, she moved to NYC and started her career at Future Green Studio. Shortly after, she joined W Architecture and Landscape, where she worked for over 4 years. In 2021, she joined Marvel as an Intermediate Landscape Architectural Designer. During her time in NYC, she has contributed to various urban landscape projects, including a neighborhood master plan in Detroit, NYC Parks projects and waterfronts, and multiple plazas across the city’s boroughs.

EXPECTATIONS

What is one change you want to see happen this year in the architecture profession/academia?

I want to see more women in leadership roles, and I want to see more trans and non-binary womxn and femmes represented in the workplace. I want them to feel welcomed in their workplace and empowered to speak up.
